I've gotten a few questions about it and there have been some threads recently, so I thought I'd clarify some examples where I think it applies and some where it doesn't.

You (100bb) have AK in MP at a 6max game. UTG (100bb) limps, you raise to 5xBB, Button (100bb) calls, UTG calls.

Three to the flop (pot ~15bb), which is:

UTG checks, you lead out for 12bb, Button folds, UTG calls.

On to the turn (pot~ 36bb)

UTG checks, you bet 25bb, he raises all-in.

We fold. One pair is not good here. A draw does this about never. We have to bet this turn because we can't let spades draw, and we need value from worse A's, but now that he raises, we can rule out worse A's and draws.

However, to slightly alter Isura's example, lets say we have AA, same pf action as before and the flop (pot~15bb) comes down:

Here, I think we should call. We are very likely to see KJ here, as well as AK or KQ. Occassionally we see a random 2, but we are ahead of his range more often than not.

Basically, the whole point of the "Baluga theorem", as I see it, is to strongly reevaluate one-pair hands facing a turn raise.

A few notes to remember-
turn checkraises are more frightening than turn raises

big turn raises are rarely pure draws-- occassionally they will be draws that pick up a pair, or pairs that pick up draws, but most of the time you can count on a strong made hand.

when playing against a goood TAG, particularly a 2p2er, most especially me, raising the turn with a draw is a powerful (but risky) play. "

Recap

Today was a somewhat insane day. I started the day and lost 469.25$ in 1.375k hands. After that to rebuild my confidence I decided to go play some NL50. There in 2.956k hands I won 361.10$. After, I wanted to replay some NL100 before going to sleep. I played in the fullring NL100 and won 492.90$ in 896hands.

And I also unlocked a 285$ VIP bonus. A overall day of : +670$

Some news!

I'm actually playing NL100 (100$ buyin max on the table), so from the last news I've been adjusting my play throught the new limit. It's, again, more money on the table and more possibilty to lose a lot or win a lot. Recently I've been winning and can't wait to actually play the real limits NL400 or NL600. Some news will be available shortly.

I'm still alive and back to poker!

Since last week I'm 100% back to poker and now focus into winning more and more (We always want more lol). I'm now playing NL50 (blinds being 25cent-50cent). I took a break of poker for more than a month (still played few hours a week but basically it was for fun). What did I do in that break? I basically wasted my time playing a game called : WorldOfWarcraft. My suggestion : don't play that, you'll get addicted. I cancelled my account and sold it this week to be able to have lot more of freetime towards poker. This weekend was a poker fiesta for me. Friday I had class from 10 to 1pm. Then at 2pm I played cashgame OmahaPL Hi 50 and NL50 on fulltiltpoker for 5hours. At 7 I went to Montreal to play a 10$ SITnGO which I won then moved to a 20$+rebuy at 10pm (finished at 4am and I splited the pot after 1hour of headsup since we were both really tired). When I came back home I almost played some cashgame again but I told myself 14hours of poker is enought for today. If you are wondering what is Omaha, it's pretty simple, it's like NoLimitHE. The only difference is you start with 4 cards instead of 2 (you HAVE to use 2 of your cards to make the best 5 cards possible, that means you can't play only 1 out of your 4 cards to complete a straight or flush. I.E : There's 4 clubs on the board and you've 1 in your hand, you do not have the flush, you need two of them if your hand to complete the flush. There's a lot more action in Omaha, especially shorthanded.

Something funny about this session of Nl25 (rebuilded some confidence since I was down and making bad plays), I finished with Seat 5: asmrozi ($97.90). 97.90-25= +72.90$ on a 1 table lol. It's almost +3 buy-ins, pretty nice.
